Put on your zaniest party attire and head down to Eugene this weekend for the outlandish Whiteaker Block Party. Touted as Eugene’s biggest summer event, the 11th annual Whiteaker Block Party takes place this Saturday August 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., on four blocks of the vibrant and festive Whiteaker Neighborhood.
Open and free to the public, this volunteer-driven event hosts a large variety of local performers and bands across numerous stages. Much like the Country Fair, one can also expect to see a myriad of street performers, carnival acts, funky craft vendors, and lots of individual personality. More than 80 bands will play on 12 stages throughout the Whiteaker neighborhood, with musical entertainment styles ranging from the American Electro Swing of High Step Society, to the Psychedelic Hip Hop of the band SolSeed.
The Whiteaker neighborhood is home to many outstanding breweries, including Ninkasi Brewing, Hop Valley Brewing, and WildCraft Cider Works. Festival attendees are sure to feel a family-friendly vibe of creativity and community flowing throughout the streets. Many consider this party to be the real heart and soul of Eugene — artsy and original, mixed with a North West bohemian feel.
