We Are the Changemakers: A Conference for Women & Their Allies. CH2M HILL Alumni Center, 725 SW 26th St., Corvallis. 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. $20-$40.

This looks like an incredible event! From the press release: “The Corvallis Changemakers are a group of local women who, inspired by the upsurge in activism in the community and the nation, seek fresh voices and ideas to effect change and build a better future for women, their allies, and their communities. They are multigenerational, identify with different cultural and racial backgrounds and sexual orientations, and bring to the table different experiences of activism and passions about issues. They share the common goal of helping women and their allies, including people from historically marginalized communities (and especially female-identified people who experience compound discrimination based on perceived or personal identity) to create and access resources and tools to gain social, political, and economic power. They are a grassroots group without formal incorporation or identity. They are hoping that you, the conference-goers and Changemakers, will join them and envision what they can do next.” Funds raised will be used to cover general costs, speakers, venue, and food.

Have a youngster you need to offload – er, want to expose to some awesomeness? The Library is hosting this awesome LEGO hangout for the little ones. Bring in your own bricks if you want, though they’ll be provided a bunch as well. Build and have fun. The only way this could be better is if they added beer and made it for adults. Just sayin’. Wednesday, October 4

Death Café Corvallis. Interzone, 1563 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis. 6 p.m. Free.

Death is a tough subject for everyone, whether they’ve experienced it happening around them or not. Regardless of what your interest is in mortality, this is one of the best groups out there for those that want to talk. Not a support group, and there’s certainly no therapeutic agenda, debate angle, or religious component. Just show up and talk freely with others, complete with all the confidentiality and respect you’re looking for. Or just listen! The atmosphere is always welcoming, and you’re likely to find some tea and cake. For info, visit facebook.com/groups/deathcafecorvallis or email deathcafecorvallis@gmail.com
