Thoughts of a funk scene in a folk town like Corvallis might rightly seem implausible to some. But for those who yearn for more mix in their musical diet, rejoice, for funky times are nigh in the valley. Funk in the Forest has returned, and not a moment too soon.
According to the event Facebook page – which we all accept as irrefutable truth – nearly 200 locals have already committed to attending the biannual mini-festival on September 30. It has gained momentum with each recurrence and organizers are prepared to turn revelers away as they have before, tie-dye bandanas and glow-sticks be damned.
Bringing the noise and the funk will be local favorites DTW and Space Neighbors. Games and other such shenanigans kick off at 5 p.m. in Avery City Park. All ages are welcome and BYOB (no glass) if you wish. Tickets are a steal for $7 at the door while they last or $5 presale at Natalia & Cristoforo’s. Get ‘em while they’re funky.
