If you said that Michael Beschloss is a presidential historian and an author of nine books, of which several are bestsellers, you’d be close. If you said that he is a frequent guest on The Daily Show with John Stewart, Meet the Press, The Today Show, has been a commentator on The PBS NewsHour, a contributing columnist for The New York Times, and a historian for the Smithsonian Institution, you’d be even closer.
Beschloss will be here, in Corvallis, to deliver the OSU Provost Lecture on “Leadership Under Pressure: A Historian’s Close-up Look at Presidential Decision-Making.”
Beschloss has also won a shopping cart of awards, an Emmy, the Williams College Bicentennial Medal, the Harry S. Truman Public Service Award, the Ambassador Book Prize, honorary doctorates from five colleges, and many more recognitions.
The lecture is on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the LaSells Stewart Center from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free. Book sales and signing will follow the program.
