By Gary Weaver

corvallissustainabilitycoalition2The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition will host their Annual Meeting on Monday, Jan. 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Avenue. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting will feature presentations on accomplishments of 2014 and plans for 2015 as well as recognition of those businesses that have been nominated for this year’s Good Steward of the Planet award. This award will be one of several given by the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce at the 66th annual Celebrate Corvallis Awards on Friday, Jan. 16 at the CH2MHill Alumni Center. The Good Steward award will honor a local business that has made a significant contribution to improving the environmental health of Corvallis through exemplary achievement in business practices using natural, financial, and human resources in a responsible manner that meets existing needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition is a network of 300 organizations and hundreds of individual volunteers. Partner organizations include businesses, non-profits, faith communities, educational institutions, and government entities. The mission of the group is to promote an ecologically, socially, and economically healthy city and county.
