The Corvallis Boxing Club is presenting a Veteran’s Day fundraiser benefiting our local military community. That’s right, they’re boxing for charity.
Local amateur boxers from the Corvallis and OSU boxing clubs will square off against the University of Washington’s boxing club for bragging rights and a good cause. The evening’s main event will feature world gold medalist and member of Team USA Victor Morales, Jr.
Among the patriotic pugilists on display will be our own Kirsten Allen. Never one to back away from a challenge, the longtime Advocate writer will be “taking one for the team,” so to speak. In a recent article, Allen wrote, “Getting punched in the face really isn’t as bad as it sounds.” Remind me to stay on her good side.
Profits from the event will go to the Benton Community Foundation to support the Yellow Ribbon Veterans Endowment, Tsuga Community Commission, the ROTC General Fund, the Veteran’s Support Fund, and Corvallis Boxing Club Youth Outreach.
The Inaugural Battle for the Brave is at Life Community Church on Friday, Nov. 7. Doors open at 5 p.m., with fights beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $20 for ringside seats, $15 for general admission, or $10 with military or student ID. LCC is located at 4900 NW Highway 99 in Corvallis. For more information, call 541-758-1001.
