Looking for an educational, fun, and interactive way to spend your Saturday? Well, Oregon State University’s Beaver Barcamp 14 is sure to draw you and other Corvallisites to the Kelley Engineering Center on Saturday, April 12 for this exciting, free event. The casual conference, hosted by OSU’s Open Source Lab and sponsored by Rackspace, has seen popular, with past presentations ranging from Google engine application and coffee roasting to green computing and building your own Ning website, and even martial arts.
Beaver Barcamp features a day filled with demos and discussion sessions introducing a wide variety of innovations and projects in technical and recreational subjects, these can including science, food, unique hobbies, culture, and arts. It’s your choice on what sessions you wish to see. However, what makes this conference different from most is audience participation is a must during sessions. Guests are also given the opportunity to present demos and hold discussions of their own if they so choose. Oftentimes, audience presentations can spark the next great idea leading to another session.
Attendees who wish to participate should arrive early as scheduling and session planning are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. You can register for the conference ahead of time at http://beaverbarcamp.org/, but it isn’t necessary to attend. Free parking is widely available on OSU campus on Saturdays. There is a lot north of the Kelley Engineering Building with ample parking spaces for guests.
Beaver Barcamp 14 goes from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at OSU’s Kelley Engineering Center, 1148 NW Monroe Avenue. The conference is free.
