On Monday, U.S. District Judge Michael McShane declared Oregon’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional. The Oregonian reports that supporters of gay marriage will not continue their attempts to put a measure removing the state’s same-sex marriage ban on November’s ballot.
Delicias Valley Cafe will hold a fundraiser for the Corvallis Pride Festival this Thursday, May 22nd. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all sales made from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to the festival. At 6 p.m. an update will be provided on the Oregon marriage equality case.
The Pride Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th in Central Park. The event will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is family-friendly. This year, anticipating the marriage equality ruling, the festival’s theme is “Get Engaged,” which highlights both the right of same-sex couples to marry and the opportunity for Corvallisites to connect with and support members of the LGBT community. More fundraisers will be held over the next month to support the festival.
