City Club’s Monday, Sept. 8 meeting will kick off the latest in the marijuana legalization discussion, with a panel consisting of Police Chief Jonathan Sassaman, Seth Crawford from the OSU Department of Sociology & School of Public Policy, and dispensary owners Brock Binder of High Quality Compassion and Kayla Duhnham, owner of the Agrestic. The discussion will be moderated by Nick Houtman.
With the vote of Measure 91, which would legalize retailing recreational pot, fast approaching (the measure is on the Nov. 4 state ballot), the panelists will be covering topics ranging from outcomes, based on results from Colorado, of legalized recreational marijuana use, to competition between the black market and legal medical dispensaries, and how the presence of one affects the other. Also on the agenda is criminality associated with legalization, as well as what results legalizing pot will have on children and teenagers.
City Club meets in the Les Schwab Gym at the Boys & Girls Club, 1112 NW Circle. The meeting will begin at noon, with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. As always, attendance is free. A catered lunch will be provided for $10 for members, $12 for non-members. To register, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with “City Club November 11” in the subject line by Sept. 8.
