Health Insurance on Tour

pacificsourceCorvallis residents without health insurance will receive some help navigating the complexities of the Affordable Care Act. PacificSource, a Eugene-based, independent health plan provider will offer a free information session to help locals register for health insurance.

The drop-in session will be held on Monday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Asbury Building of the Corvallis Clinic (3680 NW Samaritan Dr.) and is part of PacificSource’s “Get Out, Get Covered” tour. The goal of this tour is to explain insurance options before Oregon’s March 31 open enrollment deadline.

People who attend the Monday session will be able to speak individually with PacificSource representatives to determine if they’re eligible for tax credits and learn about specific insurance plans. Then they will be able to enroll in the plan of their choice and pick primary care physicians. PacificSource’s own plans will be compared with those available through Cover Oregon’s exchange marketplace. Independent insurance agents will also be at the event. Information kits will be provided for attendees who want to briefly drop in.

Those wishing to apply for financial assistance (available to households or individuals with income of up to 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Level) are required to buy a plan through the exchange marketplace. PacificSource offers many options for people not eligible for assistance and will help answer insurance questions at (855) 330-2792, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
