The Corvallis Art Guild (CAG) is holding a member showcase of works created by Guild members from Saturday, May 24 until Sunday, June 8 at Spindrift Wine Cellars in Philomath.
The showcase will contain a diverse display of art created through a variety of mediums. One artist, for instance, has a focus on pastel and linoleum carvings, while another enjoys creating children’s illustrations.
In the showcase, the Guild members have the opportunity to display two pieces. They will also be considered for “Members’ Choice” prizes.
Started in 1946 to “provide an opportunity for local painters to interact, improve skills, and exhibit work,” according to their website, the CAG’s mission is to promote member and community appreciation and participation in artistic expression. Currently membership consists of over 130 2-D artists from the surrounding Linn-Benton counties, who meet on a monthly basis to educate and support one another. They also maintain a monthly newsletter called Brushstrokes containing updates on upcoming events, artist showcases, workshops, and lectures. Anyone who is a resident of either Linn or Benton County may apply to join the Corvallis Art Guild. Membership information can be found on their website at www.corvallisartguild.org or by contacting Kate McGee at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541-929-2939.
Enjoy spring’s transition into summer with some great local art and wine all month long.
