Wild Rose Studios’ Hearts of the Valley Talent Search is now over, but the celebration went on in style during an after-party at the studio. The night began as a reason for the guests to get together, and quickly turned into a live acoustic music set. Musicians from the competition performed, including winner Shilipi Halemane and finalists Karl Smiley and Mahogany Driftwood.
Two raffle prizes were given out: a Fender Strat and a Yamaha sound mixer, provided by Gracewinds Music. The Strat gained further illumination that night, as Halemane performed some of his set playing the prized guitar. Gabriel Surley, the chief engineer at Wild Rose and organizer of Hearts of the Valley, thanked the competition’s sponsors, noting that they were the ones to make the whole thing possible.
Earlier that day, Halemane started recording his upcoming CD with Wild Rose Studios.
“They have very nice equipment,” he said. “Recording went great, it was exciting.”
Recording is expected to continue throughout the month, after which Halemane hopes his music will be available on iTunes for people to download.
