Saturday, November 16
Fall Frost Timbersport Competition. Peavy Arboretum, located 8 miles north of Corvallis on Hwy. 99W. 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. The annual OSU timbersports competition returns to Peavy Arboretum this Saturday. College teams from across the West will compete in lumberjack skill competitions including buck saw, burling, pole climb, axe throw, and more. We invite the public to cheer our local logging sport competitors on as the saw through, scramble over, and hack away at timber.

Sunday, November 17
hikeHike Marys Peak East Ridge and Meadow’s Edge. Marys Peak East Ridge Trailhead. 8 a.m. This moderate level hike follows the popular East Ridge trail up towards the summit of Marys Peak, then tours the north side of the mountain on the Meadow Edge Trail. Expect muddy trails, brisk temperatures, and maybe some snow on this hike. Bring your favorite treats to share! During this hike we’ll talk about preparing for longer hikes, using navigation aids and preparing for changing weather conditions. $15.

Your Refuse, My Refuge: About global garbage villages & how we can take action. Asian Cultural Center, 2638 NW Jackson St., Corvallis. 4:30 – 6 p.m. Come to learn about and discuss garbage villages around the world. Learn what you can do today to reduce waste in your life. Leave with your very own reusable shopping bag that we show you how to make out of an old T-shirt! All supplies provided, but feel free to bring your own shirt if you have one you’d like to use. Presented by the APCC and the Waste Watchers.
