Nonviolent Direct Action Training. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis, 2945 NW Circle Blvd, Corvallis. Oct. 12th 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. A group of Corvallis, Albany and Willamette Valley residents are planning a peaceful, non-violent action November or December if the U.S. State Department recommends the Keystone XL (KXL) Pipeline. The goal is to send the strongest message yet to President Obama that he has no choice but to reject Keystone XL. Some volunteers will participate in a peaceful, dignified, civil disobedience action risking arrest during the action. There are many ways for the other volunteers to be involved or support the action without risking arrest.
5th Annual Bloktoberfest. Jefferson Ave., between 3rd and 4th St., Corvallis. October 12th 1 – 11 p.m. In recognition of the changing of the leaves & weather, and the traditional time of German Oktoberfest, Block 15 Restaurant & Brewery is holding the 5th annual Bloktoberfest celebration. There will be live music, Block 15 beer, German style food, Darts, and a large screen TV for viewing the Oregon State Beavers take on the Washington State Cougars. Admission is $5, and minors are welcome until 8pm.
23nd Annual Great Pumpkin Run. Benton County Fairgrounds, 110 SW 53rd St., Corvallis. Oct. 13th 9 a.m. The 23rd annual Great Pumpkin Run is sponsored by Home Life, Inc and Calapooia Brewing Co. Home Life is a local nonprofit and has provided residential and support services for adults with developmental disabilities for 40 years. Proceeds from this event directly benefit those we support. On the day of the run, ask a run official how you can support Home Life through volunteering or donating. Enjoy the run!
