For the third year in a row, the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce’s Bite of Benton will hit Central Park for a night of music and deliciousness, this Saturday, Aug. 10 from 4 to 9 p.m.
The event features music by bands including The My Oh Mys, Parish Gap, The Trevor Tangle Band, and Exit Electric.
The Chamber’s Executive Director Kevin Dwyer is excited about this year’s festivities.
“We had about 1,000 attendees last year,” he said. “We’re aiming for 2,000 this year.”
He’s been on the job about six months after coming from a long career heading chambers of commerce in Washington.
“It’s a relatively new event, but we’re trying to do something in the vein of Taste of Portland, to give our restaurants, wineries, and breweries some nice exposure.”
New this year at the Bite is a Kid Zone managed by the Corvallis Boys & Girls Club. Parents can drop off their kids in a safe and supervised atmosphere just a few feet away so they can freely enjoy the revelry.
Tickets are on sale now at www.biteofbenton.com, or at the chamber of commerce. They’re $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and include five “bites” of food at the local vendors’ booths.
It should be a hot sunny day, perfect for a cold local brew and a variety of food.
