On Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Heart of the Valley Birth Center will host the first annual Women’s Health Day at Odd Fellows Hall. The purpose of Women’s Health Day—subtitled “Embracing the Feminine”—is to spread awareness of women’s health issues in the community and further knowledge and community support of the birth center itself.
The Heart of the Valley Birth Center strives to be a place where mothers receive maternal care and families receive health services and information. The Women’s Health Day events will provide opportunities for women to meet with care providers, learn of health care options, and obtain education and information in a fun and supported environment. There will be workshops on prenatal yoga, menstrual disorders, pelvic health, as well as other, perhaps more fun feminine activities.
Heart of the Valley Birth Center is engrossed in a capital campaign. Much of their current focus is on obtaining a building; their goal is to have a place to call “home” by early 2014. The suggested $10 per person donation for an all-day entry to Women’s Health Day will go a long way in making this a reality.
