Engravings by Mizraím Cárdenas, Corrine Woodman Gallery in The Arts Center, 700 SW Madison Ave., Corvallis. July 16 – August 25, 2012. The Arts Center is very pleased to be able to show international artwork in the Corrine Woodman Gallery. Corvallis was introduced to Mizraím Cárdenas at Pegasus Gallery with a series of prints on Mexican history in commemoration of the Mexican bi-centennial. At The Arts Center, Cárdenas shows a wider variety of subject matter, where we see tendencies to surrealism, a love of nature and a concern about the state of environment.

The Art of Plankton: Form Follows Function, The Arts Center, 700 NW Madison Ave., Corvallis.  July 19 – August 28. In our daily lives, it’s easy to overlook how closely related the disciplines of science and art can be. It was exciting to see the level of response to this science-based inspiration – we could have filled the Gallery twice over. The resulting collection of artwork is a testament to the creativity that abounds in the fields of art and science, and how explorations each field can elevate the other.
